The Founder

This is my Story..

During my time in medical school, I had the privilege of working with patients who were living with diabetes. I saw firsthand the daily struggles they faced—how a simple routine could turn into a complex series of decisions, and how a chronic condition like diabetes could shape every aspect of life. Those experiences stayed with me, especially as I witnessed the incredible resilience in these patients, and the immense challenge of managing such a condition.

Then in September September 2022, the trajectory of my life took a turn and I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Suddenly, I wasn't just the doctor, I was the patient. I experienced what it meant to check blood sugar multiple times a day, count every carb, and ensure I never missed an insulin dose. I also understood what it felt like to have my loved ones and caregivers worry, always trying to do everything they could to help and it made me truly understand the full weight of what it means to live with this disease.

Through my clinical work and community outreach, I've encountered countless stories that have deepened my commitment to this cause. I'll never forget meeting thirteen-year-old Musa, whose blood sugar was dangerously high when he first came to one of our community outreaches. He was an orphan and his adopted family simply hadn't known the warning signs or had access to proper diabetes education. Seeing children like him, who is supposed to be full of life and robust, now sickly, thin and stunted,  yet facing such serious health risks, reinforced why this work matters so much.
In all this, i can't do it alone. I Need Your Support, We Need Your Support, Prospective Beneficiaries Need Your Support..

FAQ

What impact have we made so far?

Since our inception, The Oboli Foundation has made a tangible impact by:

  • Educating hundreds of individuals and families on how to manage diabetes effectively through community outreach programs, workshops, and screenings.

  • Identifying undiagnosed cases of diabetes, providing early intervention and care to those who otherwise may not have known about their condition.

  • Creating a supportive network for people with diabetes, offering a safe space where individuals can share experiences, find resources, and connect with others facing similar challenges.

  • Empowering caregivers with the tools and knowledge they need to support their loved ones in managing diabetes.

  • Witnessing inspiring stories of transformation, such as children learning to manage their diabetes confidently or adults making significant lifestyle changes to better control their blood sugar.

Who benefits from our work?

Our work primarily benefits individuals living with diabetes, whether it's Type 1, Type 2, or those at risk of developing the condition. We also support their families, caregivers, and communities by providing education and resources to help them better understand and manage the condition. From children like Musa, who struggle with the challenges of managing diabetes at a young age, to adults juggling diabetes care with everyday life, our services aim to make life easier, healthier, and more fulfilling for everyone affected by diabetes.
